The latest photography exhibit at VISU Contemporary celebrates ballet and high fashion through photographer Pari Dukovic’s striking images.
They say a picture is worth a thousand words, and VISU Contemporary’s latest photography exhibit is speaking volumes to both art lovers and dance enthusiasts. Beginning in October,
the Miami Beach art gallery presents “En Pointe – Dance & Fashion,” a stunning photography exhibition that merges the grace of ballet with the elegance of haute couture, making it a must-see for anyone with a passion for visual beauty. Opening in October, the show features the work of award-winning photographer Pari Dukovic, showcasing a series of 25 breathtaking images that celebrate the fusion of movement and fashion.
For the first time, these photographs—taken for the Rizzoli book “New York City Ballet: Choreography & Couture”—will be displayed in a gallery setting, alongside an exclusive, never-before-seen outtake from the project. Dukovic’s work captures the ethereal beauty of ballet dancers, perfectly juxtaposed with the intricate details of high-fashion costumes created for the New York City Ballet’s annual Fall Fashion Gala.
Dukovic’s photographs span a decade, highlighting the creative genius of nearly 30 world-renowned fashion designers, including Thom Browne, Alexander McQueen’s Sarah Burton, and the late Virgil Abloh. Through his lens, Dukovic has captured the strength and artistry of ballet dancers while showcasing the exquisite craftsmanship of haute couture. The striking portraits in the exhibit reveal the dancers in motion, embodying both elegance and athleticism.
A Visual Experience at VISU Contemporary
“We are thrilled to curate and host this captivating exhibition featuring Pari Dukovic’s stunning fine art photography of some of the world’s most renowned dancers, wearing glamorous handmade designs by top fashion designers,” said Bruce Halpryn, co-owner of VISU Contemporary. “We are proud to serve as the exclusive worldwide gallery to offer this body of work by an extraordinary artist.”
The exhibition will feature iconic moments, such as dancers adorned in Thom Browne’s tailored suits, Iris van Herpen’s futuristic reflective designs, and Carolina Herrera’s opulent creations. Each photograph transports viewers into a world where the elegance of fashion meets the grace of dance, offering a visually immersive experience.
Dukovic, known for his evocative and imaginative photography, drew inspiration from a range of historical and modern artistic movements for this series. “I want each shot to feel like a portrait of the dancer in motion, expressed through their instrument—the body,” Dukovic explained. “Taking these images off the page and onto the gallery walls allows me to see them with a fresh vision, where the artistry becomes larger than life.”
