Picture this: As the Scarlet Lady loomed before me in the port of Barcelona, I was greeted with a glass of bubbly and a breathtaking 360-degree view of the city’s skyline. The crisp Catalonian air brushed against my skin as I stood on Richard’s Rooftop, the exclusive deck reserved for suite guests. This was the start of Virgin Voyages ’”French Daze and Ibiza Nights” cruise, a seven-day Mediterranean journey packed with luxury, adventure, and unforgettable memories.

The Scarlet Lady, my home for the next week, first debuted in 2020 and has since become the gold standard of luxury cruising. With over 86% of cabins featuring balconies and 20+ dining options included in the fare, Virgin Voyages stands out by offering an all-inclusive experience. Everything from specialty dining to gratuities, Wi-Fi, and fitness classes is covered, meaning no surprise charges during your journey. Onboard, wellness is a priority, with a blend of high-energy and relaxation experiences, while the ship’s design—featuring sleek, modern aesthetics—reflects Virgin’s signature style.

From Barcelona, the Scarlet Lady set sail, and our first stop was Marseilles. I opted for an excursion to explore the picturesque seaside towns of Sanary-sur-Mer and Cassis. Cassis, famed for its stunning Calanques, offered a chance to sail along its dramatic limestone cliffs, where the clear, azure waters met the rugged coastline. Sipping French wine on a boat as we drifted through these breathtaking formations was otherworldly. The day ended with a relaxing lunch at a quaint French café, where I savored a chilled glass of Sancerre, soaking in the ambiance of Provence.

Next, we sailed into Cannes, coinciding with the start of the Cannes Film Festival. The glamour of the white tents and celebrity sightings set the tone for a day filled with indulgence. I joined a guided tour that whisked us away to Château de Saint-Martin, a historical estate known for its Roman roots and exceptional wines. After an afternoon of wine tasting and exploring the estate’s centuries-old cellars, myfriends and I embarked on an impromptu adventure: charming our way into the Carlton Hotel formartinis at their glamorous Bar°58. The day ended with a spirited run alongthe Croisette as we rushedback to reboard the ship, breathless but exhilarated.

Day four brought us to Palma de Mallorca, a destination that exceeded all expectations. Our excursion took us to the quaint hilltop village of Valldemossa, a serene retreat nestled in the Tramuntana Mountains. Known as the former residence of composer Frédéric Chopin, the village enchanted us withits car-free cobblestone streets and rich cultural history. After wandering through Valldemossa’s charming alleyways, we made our way to the village of Deià, where we dined at La Residencia, a luxurious Belmond Hotel. Surrounded by stunning views of the Mediterranean, we enjoyed a lavish spread of charcuterie, filet mignon, and of course, more wine.

After a restful night aboard the Scarlet Lady, I eagerly anticipated one of the voyage’s signature events: Scarlet Night. The evening called for guests to don their best red attire and prepare for a night of revelry. Before the festivities, I indulged in a one-of-a-kind culinary experienceat The Test Kitchen, one of the ship’s 20+ eateries. Known for its molecular gastronomy-inspired dishes, this chef-driven dining experience perfectly captured the spirit of Virgin Voyages—innovative, immersive, and delicious. Each dish, inspired by cutting-edge culinary techniques, was a surprise and delight.

The next day was dedicated to lounging and unwinding on the Scarlet Lady’s beach club-style deck. Spicy margaritas in hand, my friends and I prepared for our final destination: Ibiza. After docking in the iconic party island, we spent the day at one of Ibiza’s famous beach clubs, enjoying the sun, sea, and endless rosé. Whether dancing by the pool or relaxing in plush loungers, the energy of Ibiza was infectious.

Throughout the trip, Virgin Voyages consistently impressed with its elevated dining, personalized service, and exclusive experiences. With more than 20 eateries aboard the Scarlet Lady, I never tired of the variety of options, from steak and seafood at The Wake to handmade pasta at Extra Virgin. Even more impressive was the all-inclusive dining experience—no hidden upcharges for indulging in top-tier cuisine.

In each port, Virgin Voyages curated unique excursions that catered to every traveler’s desires, whether you craved cultural immersion, luxurious relaxation, or outdoor adventure. Every stop felt like a new chapter in a story of discovery and indulgence.

As the Scarlet Lady sailed back into Barcelona, I reflected on the incredible journey. Virgin Voyages delivered not only a cruise but an extraordinary experience at sea. From the luxe accommodations and dining to the exclusive excursions and vibrant nightlife, “French Daze and Ibiza Nights” truly lived up to its name—dazzling, delightful, and unforgettable.
